Dogs live in the moment, they are never too old to learn new behaviour. So when 16 year old Jazz came to board for a week we took the opportunity to work on some of her anxieties….walking on tile/laminated flooring, fire crackles….
When working with older dogs you just have to remember that their response time will be slower and their eyes and ears may not work like they used too! So we used Jazz’s sense of smell with a treat in front of her nose to motivate her to move forwards across the floor….oh and some help from Ellie who kept nudging her on !!
Stage 1- Carpet or Tiles..."Carpet for me thanks !"
Stage 2 - "How long did you say I have to stay on here for?"
Stage 3-Ellie to the Rescue !
